The Appraisers' eyes nearly popped out of their sockets when they
saw the simple but incredibly effective design of this team's
backdrop. The backdrop was an optical illusion which, when the face
was turned 90 degrees, changed between a classroom scene and the
Black Forest of Germany. When it was turned, the perspective of the
scene changed not just a little, but totally! The Team completed the
visual effects by also using gravity to add a third dimension to each
of the scenes. This was a truly visual delight!

This team presented a poignant and thought-provoking theme about
fascism. They used color and shadow to effectively symbolize the
resistance movement throughout the Presentation. They also used
outstanding comedy and music to make difficult subjects more
palatable and easy to digest. These, combined with incredible acting
and stage presence, costuming and backdrops, created a
Presentation that moved the Appraisers and audience deeply.

This team created a truly unique backdrop comprised of four boards, a
ginormous number of paper tubes, and two sides with different colors.
The team used these pin boards to create incredibly diverse backdrops
including shelves, a lamp, musicians playing instruments, words, and
the Tower Bridge of London. The tremendous versatility of images
produced from this simply elegant design was truly amazing.

In order to convey the concept of recycling, one of the main foci of the
Hit or Myth Challenge, this team took it to the next level by creating a
machine that used cycling water to power a heating element that melted
bottle caps during the Presentation and stamped them before they
cooled. The innovative miniaturizaton of the device which allowed it to
recycle onsite during their performance amazed everyone!
